Als Grundmaterial für meine Arbeit habe ich Geräusche von der Wiese genommen wie z.B. Hummel, Grille, Bienen, etc. Diese Geräusche sind die Tonquelle für meine Komposition. Diese Geräusche habe ich im Prinzip, in ihrer Beschaffenheit so gelassen, wie sie sind. Ich habe sie jedoch geschnitten, verschnitten, aneinandergereiht, in-ein-ander gelegt, gefiltert.etc. Dieses neue Tonmaterial habe ich in einen feste Struktur und Form gesetzt!
Meine Idee für diese Arbeit ist, die natürlichen Wiesengeräusche kompositorisch neu zu ordnen, und in eine feste Struktur zu setzen. Durch die vier Lautsprecher, die quadratisch zu einander stehen, kann ich wieder einen Raum entstehen lassen und «meinen Wiesenteppich» darin widerspiegeln lassen. Die Komposition ist anders als die eigentlichen Wiesengeräusche und doch sind die Geräusche sehr verwandt miteinander.
Je nachdem wie und wo die Installation steht, bekommt sie eine neue Ausdrucksform. Wenn die Installation über eine Wiese gelegt wird, so wird es ein Spiel mit der Irritation. Dort sollten die Lautsprecher ca. 40cm vom Boden aufgestellt werden. So, dass sie sich mit anderen Bodengeräuschen vermischen kann. Es ist ein Spiel mit den natürlichen momentanen Geräuschen und den kompositorischen Geräuschen.
Wenn die Installation in einen Raum gelegt wird, so ist es, als ob im Raum ein Wiesenteppich liegen würde. Dann sollten die Lautsprecher ca. 1,7m über dem Boden liegen. So, dass sie den Raum ausfüllen, ohne einfach laut abgespielt zu werden.
Für mich ist Insect eine Form von Uebergang. Vom Natürlichen zum Künstlichen. Von der Naturform zur Kunstform.
Diese Arbeit wird über einen CD Walkman und vier Lautsprechern abgespielt. Die Energie wird durch Sonnenkolektoren erzeugt.

As source material for my composition I have taken from a meadow the sounds from insects... such as bumblebees, ants, crickets, wasps.... These noises and sounds, in principle, are kept in their original state. To all of them I have cut, pasted together, and aligned over and upon one another, and equalized. This new tone material I then set within a solid structure and form.
My idea for this work is a strongly-structured, reorganized-composition of natural sounds I recorded in a meadow. Sound travels through four loudspeakers situated in such a way as to recreate the sonic landscape of the meadow. The result, a composition which is something quite other than simple meadow sounds; a composition where noises and sounds from the meadow are relating with one another in suprisingly new and interesting ways.
Depending on how and where the piece is installed, it becomes a new presentation. For installation in a meadow, the piece is installed to interplay with the natural sounds existing in the landscape. In this setting the loudspeakers should be installed 40 cm from the earth in such a way as they themselves with other sounds from the earth can mix. In this setting it is a meadow interplay with the natural sound momentum and the compositional sound piece.
For a room installation, the piece is installed as if in the room is a meadow upon the floor. In this setting the loudspeakers are installed 1.7 meters over the floor in such a way as the room is sonically filled without the piece simply being played loudly. A recreation of the sonic atmospheres.
For me «Insect» is a form from transistions. From natural to artistic. From the nature-form to the art-form.
This work is played by CD Walkman over 4 loudspeakers. The energy is provided by solar cells.
